Gemma and Mike’s Wedding Day at St. Mary’s Church and Great Hallingbury Manor
The day started off in Great Dunmow at Gemma’s parents’ house where I was greeted by Gemma and her lovely bridesmaids, who were all dodging me as they hadn’t had their make-up done! All was calm! I just settled in to the background and calmly started what I was there to do, document Gemma and Mike’s wedding day.
I also covered some of the grooms prep as Mike wasn’t too far away from where Gemma was getting ready. Again these guys were all relaxed and rather chilled and in good spirits. Once I had covered the grooms prep along with their colourful socks! Off I went back to cover the bridal preparation in Great Dunmow.
Once the girls were ready we headed off to the beautiful church of St Marys Church in Dunmow where the wedding ceremony took place. It has to be said this was the liveliest wedding ceremony that I have witnessed. Firstly we had Gemma’s uncle welcome the guests with his fantastic trumpet solo. Then during the ceremony the games began! Who would win the most enthusiastic singer and music maker during the hymns? There was some fierce competition with the bridesmaids taking the lead early on and leaving everyone else in their dust! It was so lovely to see everyone enjoying such a unique take on the usual miming of the hymns.
Once the ceremony was over and the world had a new Mr & Mrs. It was off to Great Hallingbury Manor for the celebrations to begin. The guests were entertained with a magician whilst the formals photographs were being taken and it also gave me the chance to get around for some reportage photographs too.
It’s fair to say everyone is a little fearful of the speeches and I don’t think anyone who has a speech relaxes until afterwards. I always think the most pressure sits with the best man and on this occasion Chris didn’t stand a chance. You see, the father of the bride not only gave a heart-warming, insightful and funny speech. He also performed a song he had written for Gemma. I mean, how do you follow that!?
This led to the party with a live band and some more trumpet playing everyone had a fabulous time. I know I did J
Now I’ll leave you with the story in photographs, I tell a better story with images than I write!! So I hope you like them.
